May 2, 2010 If you’re reading this, then you’ve visited our website. Congratulations, as you’re one of the first to see the changes that we’ve made to the site! At our last Board meeting, the decision was made to move SCOPO News from a newsprint edition to an online format. In time, we plan to develop a printable version of the SCOPO News, but in the interim what’s been created is a more flexible version of the SCOPO News that we’ve all come to know and love. Please be patient with any transitional issues that we may experience during the switch. Along with the new look of SCOPO News, we have a new address for website submissions: ocpd44@yahoo.com. Some of the other additions to the website include: pictures posted from our last SCOPO Board meeting held on April 16, 2010 in Orange County; our revised Bylaws; our new Host Guidelines, and our new Reimbursement Guidelines. Well, spring is here and with it comes the Governor’s May budget revise; which is scheduled to arrive on May 14th. Even though the State’s overall revenues are over $1.3 billion higher than expected as of April, the State’s income tax revenues are roughly $5 billion shy of the Governor’s projected $10.2 billion. Since many, if not all, of our departments rely upon state funding, this can only mean that things will continue to remain unstable for the rest of this year. Many of our brothers and sisters have fallen upon hard times, Sacramento and Orange counties to name two. And now, it sounds as if |
